Our Story
Mike and Shelby started designing and making stakes at the beginning of 2021, right at their kitchen table. @Stakes evolved from a desire to share their love of backpacking and quest to simplify, everything.
They still make everything at home, but have now upgraded to a garage in the derelict hills of West Virginia. Mike and Shelby’s novel fabrication techniques and innovative appropriation of materials used in disparate and unrelated applications form the foundation for @Stakes, and their lives. They are excited to share both, and have been, as @Stakes have found their way into the packs of folks on trails all over the world! Check us out on Garage Grown Gear too!

“@Stakes incorporate tubular carbon-fiber shafts, hand-machined aluminum reinforcements, and points. This is what renders @Stakes so dang ultralight! The basic 6”stake (low stakes) weighs a mere 3 grams, and gains a nominal 1/2 gram with the addition of a loop. Many at-Stakers choose to add loops for easier extraction.”
-We want to give our customers not only a super light and durable stake, but we like providing fun features for customers as well, to fancy-up their packs. Thats why we offer hi-visible loops, glow-in-the-dark, and bright colors that will stand out against the terrain.
